Two wild elephant died hit by train in Jorhat

Two wild elephants, including a calf were killed after being hit by Rajdhani Express Kharikatia railway station in Assam’s Jorhat on Sunday. The mother elephant was around twenty to twenty one years – old, where as her calf was between nine and twelve months. The Assam Forest Department has already given information that trains must maintain the speeds limit. The accident took place on October 9, at 10.50 PM when the elephant were dragged almost fifty meters on the tracks after being hit by train. The officials said that veterinarians must be deployed in strategic places so that wild animals injured in such accidents can be treated quickly and the possibility of saving a life increases.
