Rajat Patidar was named as the new Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain for this year’s Indian Premier League on Thursday, succeeding South African Faf Du Plessis in the role. After plenty of speculations and argument over who would or should take over captaincy for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2025 season, the official announcement was made by the Franchise with star batter Rajat Patidar becoming their new skipper heading into the season. Indian Batsman Virat Kohli, congratulated Rajat Patidar, after the latter was named as the new captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru for IPL 2025 on Thursday.

Patidar, who has been a consistent presence in the RCB lineup since 2022 was officially named skipper on Thursday, feb 13, in what came as a surprise to many who had expected Kohli to resume leadership duties following the departure of Faf du Plessis. Patidar’s rise to the top has been a remarkable one. Initially picked by RCB in 2021, he faced a rocky start, scoring just 71 runs in his first four matches. However, a mid season signing in 2022 changed the course of his IPL Career.
