The Navi Mumbai International Airport finally opens today, it will mark one of India’s biggest Infrastructure milestones an ambitious RS. 19,650 crore project led by Adani airports holdings and designed by the late Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA). The airport, envisioned as a modern gateway to Mumbai’s expanding metropolitan region, is expected to significantly ease congestion at the city’s existing airport while setting a new benchmark in design and capacity.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport is India’s largest greenfield airport project, developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model between Adani Airport Holdings and CIDCO (City and International Corporation of Maharastra Ltd). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) today, October 8. With the inauguration of NMIA, Mumbai will join the list of a hand-full of cities across the world including London, New York and Tokyo.

As the first Digital international airport and second international airport for the Mumbai metropolitan region, the Navi Mumbai international airport will work in tandem with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to ease congestion and elevate Mumbai into the league of global multi-airport system.
