Guwahati, July 29 : The medal winners of Olympic, Commonwealth and Asian Games will be provided class 1 jobs by the government of Assam. On Wednesday in a cabinet meeting let by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Government has decided to provide class-II government jobs to the medalists of the Recognised World Championship and of National Games. In addition to this the government has also raised the monthly amount of sports pension from ₹8,000 to ₹10,00, which will also be provided to the medal winners of Common Wealth and National Games.
Further, it was also decided in the cabinet that for the improvement of policing system their activities and deployment in the state a Police Commision shall be appointed which will be headed by Retired IAS Officer Himangshu Sekhar Das and former DGP P.V Sumant for 3 months. Both the former bureaucrats will get the status of Chief Secretary In accordance to the state government’s decision to appoint one lakh youths in government jobs, the cabinet has decided to start the process from September 1 by filling up 15,000 vacant post in Assam Police. A total of 6,270 youths will be appointed in the five new battalion Assam Police l, as stated by the government.
In addition the cabinet also decided to attach Printing and Stationary with Information and Public Relations Department, which will be known as Information, Public Relations, Printing and Stationary Department. Along with this the Public Enterprise Department shall be attached with Industries and Commerce Department, and Passport Department with Home.
The Retired Director of North East Space Application Centre, Dr PLN Raju will be appointed as the Special Secretary cum Director of Regional Space Application Centre.
