Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy under threat: Sonia Gandhi’s message at Congress meet

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Thursday accused those in power in New Delhi of Undermining the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Urged party workers to renew their resolve in confronting these challenges with determination. She, without directly naming anyone, asserted that ‘’they created a toxic atmosphere that led to his (Gandhi’s) Assassination’’. Gandhi, the congress parliamentary party Chairperson, made these remarks in her message to the party workers at the Congress Working Committee Meeting in Karnataka’s Belagavi, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Belgaum session presided over by Mahatma Gandhi. She did not attend the CWC meeting in person.

‘’Today, we rededicate ourselves to preserve, protect and promote the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. He has been and will continue to be the fundamental source of our Inspiration. It was he who moulded and guided all our remarkable galaxy of leaders of that generations. His legacy is under threat from those in power in New Delhi and the Ideologies and Institutions that have nurtured them,’’ Gandhi said.

‘’These organization never fought for our freedom. They opposed Mahatma Gandhi bitterly. They created a toxic atmosphere that led to his assassination. They glorify his killers,’’ She stressed further. The Congress leader further Charged, ‘’Gandhian institution in various places across the nation are under assault. It is now our sacred duty to renew our resolve to confront these forces with all the might at our command and with uncompromising determination’’.
