Currently Japanese companies were expanded companies all over the world. But still the industrial township project of Japan is not showing any progress. The Government of India was planning to set up the 13th Japanese Industrial Township (JTI) in Assam , aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing and promoting ties between India and Japan. The Government of Assam had already acquired 2,000 bighas of land in Nagarbera in Kamrup District for the construction of a Japanese Industrial Township. When enquired about the reason the official said that the Japanese companies are not showing interest to start the township in Nagarbera. After two years of the announcement nothing has moved in the proposed industrial township which was promoted by the Japan External Trade Organization.
The industry and commerce official said that the Assam government is persuading the matter with Centre and the Japanese companies so that the township can be built in Assam. In 2020 , the Assam government said that the proposal was already given to all concerns in including the Government of India and JETRO visit team in Assam 2019.
