IAF’s Thrilling Air Show Dazzles Guwahati Skies

The skies over Guwahati came alive on Sunday afternoon as the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force organised the first-ever full-scale air show in Guwahati on 9 November 2025 to mark the 93rd anniversary celebrations. The IAF displayed over 75 planes and helicopters in more than 25 formations at Lachit Ghat above the Brahmaputra River.
This year’s Air Force Day celebrations revolved around the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise”, symbolising the IAF’s focus on operational capability, resilience, and precision. The event, witnessed by 48 foreign service attachés and dignitaries, was attended by Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Air Marshal Surat Singh, and senior officers of the IAF and state government.

The skies were filled with stirring formations featuring the Su-30, Rafale, Tejas, Mirage, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Apache, Mi-17, C-295, C-130, C-17, IL-78, AN-32, AEW&C, Dornier and the vintage Harvard aircraft. The celebrations began with a stirring performance by the IAF Band, setting the tone for an afternoon of precision and pride  Thousands gathered around Brahmaputra banks from Lachit Ghat to Uzan bazaar to witness the show. Between 12:30 and 2 pm, fighter jets and helicopters performed synchronized manoeuvres. Sukhois, Rafales and Tejas fighters sliced through the air in perfect formations. A tribute to Zubeen Garg was also paid by playing his song “Mayabini” during the show. For a few breathtaking hours the city forgot everything and synced with the thunder above.
