GUWAHATI, 25 JANUARY : A NGO named Gyanvardhini has started library movement a social initiative to give the importance of education among the deprived childrens. On 22nd January, Sunday ,they distributed reading and writing materials to street children of the daily wage earner community of Milan Nagar, Lalganesh. The NGO promotes awareness of the importance of education to drop out childrens.
Present on the occasion , the Gyanvardhini’s founder Smti Mita Nath Bora had discussed about the fear of exam oriented education that keep children away from reading, writing and enjoying the pleasure of books and she also said not to keep children away from academic education. They want to encourage the childrens to continue their relation with story books, drawing and writing.
On this occasion, the environment NGO Blissful Earth gave plants to the parents and children for spreading awareness to keep their surroundings green and clean. And also distributed winter clothing to the needy families . More than hundred poor families came forward to collect the goodies.
“Gyanvardhini ” has been a pioneer in setting up libraries in orphanages, slum areas and schools in remote locations.
