Former Indian Cricket team spinner R Ashwin was awarded the Padma Shri award

Recently Retired Cricket Star Ravichandran Ashwin was awarded the Padma Shri award  as the final list of 139 individuals was unveiled for the coveted civilian awards on Saturday. He received Padma Shri for his sports contributions in the 2025 Padma Awards. He retired with 537 Test wickets. The Padma Shri, instituted in 1954, is India’s fourth-highest civilian award, bestowened upon individuals for distinguished service in various fields, including sports. Since 2004, several cricketers have been acknowledge for their outstanding performances and impact on Indian cricket. Ashwin’s former teammate Subramaniam Badrinath took to social media to congratulate the spinner on his massive achievement. He said ‘’First Tamil Nadu cricketer to get Padma Shri, can’t ask for a better role model for any youngster, feeling proud, truly deserved.

R Ashwin has got great happiness on the auspicious occasion of Repuublic Day. He is the second highest Test wicket-taker for India with 537 Test Wickets.
