New Delhi , August 19 : Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday informed that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will inaugurate the country’s first smog tower on August 23 , 2021 at Baba Kharak Sing Marg, Connaught Place. This tower will clean 1,000 cubic meters of air every second and reduce PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels in Delhi with the aim that the people of the capital don’t have to suffer from air pollution anymore.
The 20-meter-tall structure will function at full capacity from monsoon. It is constructed to improve air quality in a radius of around 1 km at a cost of Rs 20 crores.
After the inauguration, the scientists of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee will accordingly inspect the performance of the tower’s impact on the environment and submit a monthly report to the government and act upon the plan.
