Guwahati July 22 : On Wednesday in the premises of the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra International Auditorium, a function of launching the book ” Citizenship Debate Over NRC & CAA: Assam and the Politics of History” written by the professor at the Department of Political Science , Peace and Conflict Studies, Nani Gopal Mahanta of Gauhati University was held. The book was unveiled by Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangha’s Sar Sanchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagawat. The presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the VC of Gauhati University, Prof. P J Handique along with other dignitaries were witnessed in the event. Addressing the public in the event Assam Chief Minister stated that his support for CAA ( Citizenship Amendment Bill) remains static. He is a sole supporter of the Act and added that a right balance between the protection of our Assamese culture and fulfilment of historical duty is very much essential. Keeping in view to address the identified issues faced by the Assamese people the CM stated that enriching the persecuted people is a part of his historical duty and moreover he sticks onto his support.
