National Technology Day : Celebrating India’s Scientific and Strategic Triumph

Every year National Technology Day is celebrated to mark the success of the “Pokhran Nuclear Test” conducted on 11th May.  On this day in 1998, India successfully conducted nuclear tests under Operation Shakti and witnessed the maiden flight of the indigenous Hansa-3 aircraft. In celebration of these milestones, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee designated May 11 as National Technology Day. Today, this occasion has grown into a premier platform for recognizing scientific excellence, showcasing industrial innovations, and strengthening the bond between science, society, and industry.”

Every year India witnesses different technology tend and advancement. On this years National Technology Day, leaders across India’s academic, corporate and innovation landscapes shared their reflections on this year’s theme: “YANTRA-Yugantar for advancing New Technology, Research & Acceleration”. Though National Technology Day was marked on 11th May, the conversations it sparks deserve more than just a day’s spotlight.

This year’s theme ‘YANTRA – Yugantar for Advancing New Technology, Research & Acceleration’ embodies India’s commitment to technological advancement. ‘YANTRA’, a concept deeply rooted in India’s scientific and cultural heritage, signifies not only mechanical innovation but also the power of integrated systems, synergy, and scalable solutions. ‘Yugantar’, meaning a transformative era, represents India’s shift from technology adoption to global leadership, marking a significant epoch in the nation’s technological journey.”
