Cases of Zika Virus in Kerala rise to 44

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala July 23 : Kerala State Health Minister Veena George has informed on Thursday, that three more were tested positive for Zika Virus – a 27 – years – old resident near the medical college Thiruvananthapuram, 38 – years – old Petta resident and a three – years – old child from Anayara. The total number of Zika virus cases in the state rises to 44.The first case of the virus was confirmed in Kerala on July 9.

Zika Virus disease is transmitted to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aides mosquito. To reduce the spread of the mosquitoes – borne disease, the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation and the district administrations have intensified preventive activities in the affected areas. The minister said, the fogging for mosquitoes will be provided for the next 7 days.
