Afghan refugees express objections outside UNHCR office in Delhi

New Delhi , August 24 : A large number of Afghan refugees today assembled a protest in front of the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Delhi seeking refugee status , relocation options to a third country and security from the international body and the Indian government.

Men , women and even children were seen holding the Afghan flag and banners with the slogan “We want future” . The protesters highlighted their problems and demanded opportunities and support for survival.

While speaking to mediapersons , Ahmad Zhia Ghani , head of Afghanistan Community in India stated that they do not have any facilities like education , job and basic documents to have a secure future. “We cannot go back to Afghanistan. Taliban will kill us.” , says Zarifa , an Afghan refugee .
