A new national park to Assam’s glory

The Sikhna Jwhwlao reserve forest, located between Manas and Raimona national park in kokrajhar and Chirang districts, is set to be the 8th national park of Assam. With that, Assam becomes the state to have the 2nd most number of national parks, with Madhya Pradesh at the top with 10 national parks. It is to be noted here that the reserve was initially known as Chirang- Ripu elephant reserve, prior to being recognized as a national park. The park is now named after a legendary Bodo hero, Sikhna Jwhwlao . The national park is having an area of 316 sq km. The golden langur; the mascot of bodoland territorial regions along with Asian elephants, One horned rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger etc will be some of the major tourist attractions here.

The park is 222 km from Guwahati, 45 km Bongaigaon and 40 km from Kokrajhar, the capital of the Bodoland Territorial region.
