Chief Justice UU Lalit willsend the name of justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud to the centre as the 50th Chief Justice of India on Tuesday. The CJI handed over a copy of his letter of recommends to justice DY Chandrachud, who is set to become next chief justice of India on November 9. The meeting of all supreme court judges has been scheduled at 10:15 am for a formal handing over the letter. Justice Chandrachud will have a tenure of two years and will be in office for two years, till November 10, 2024. When accepted by the government, Justice Chandrachud will be the 50th Chief Justice of India. And with oath taking CJI UU Lalit will retire on November 8
Justice Chandrachud is a law graduate from Delhi University and got his LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences (SJD) from the Harvard Law School, US.
