Digital Desk, July 21: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Swanirbhar Naari Scheme on Tuesday in Guwahati. Swanirbhar Naari Scheme is basically a plan to strengthen the indigenous weavers. According to the reports, the government will procure handloom-made items from the indigenous weavers through a online portal under this scheme.

This is indeed a suitable step to preserve the heritage of handlooms and textiles by the state government. He wrote on microblogging site Twitter in this regard, ”Happy to launch Swanirbhar Naari, a scheme to empower our indigenous weavers. Govt will procure handloom items directly from the indigenous weavers via a online portal. I am sure this scheme will help preserve our heritage of handlooms and textiles by ensuring assured income to our weavers.”
