Truck fall in 200 deep Gorge, killing 20 lives with a lone survivor in Arunachal Pradesh.

200-meter-deep gorge from the road under thick vegetation in remote Arunachal Pradesh, a truck carrying 22 laborers plunged into fatal accident in Hayuliang Chaglagam road in Anjaw district on 8 December. The incident came to light when the lone survivor managed to reach Chipra General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) Camp. Due to difficult terrain with limited connectivity on the location where the incident happens, no as such news or report was known by any local contractor or civil representative, The site is approximately 12 km from Chaglagam.

Tinsukia Senior Superintendent of Police Mayank Kumar said 22 laborers from the district had travelled to Arunachal Pradesh for the construction of a hostel. “They were from Dhelaghat of Gillapukri Tea Estate. Out of the 22 people in the dumper, 21 are reportedly dead,” he said. the deceased and missing, labourersApart from Deep, have been identified as Rahul Kumar, Somir Deep, Arjun Kumar, Pankaj Manki, Ajay Manki, Bijay Kumar, Abhoy Bhumij, Rohit Manki, Birendra Kumar, Agor Tanti, Dhiren Chatriya, Rojoni Nag, Deep Gowala, Ramsebak Suna, Sonaton Nag, Sanjay Kumar, Karan Kumar and Junash Munda. reports suggest the workers were engaged by a private contractor in a project at Hayuliang and were travelling in a dumper truck that skidded off the road and plunged nearly 1,000 feet into a gorge.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed deep sorrow over the death of 14 people from the state. In a social media post, he said he is “deeply pained” by the loss of lives and assured that the Assam government is closely monitoring the situation. “…Our district administration is in touch with relevant authorities in Arunachal Pradesh and all necessary assistance is being provided. Relief and rescue teams are prioritizing locating missing or unaccounted people at the earliest. We are also ensuring that medical help is provided to those in need. My thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families in this tough time,”.
