History has been created as the Budget session of Assam Assembly for the session 2025-26 has started in Kokrajhar. For the first time after Independence; the opening proceedings of the Budget assembly has been conducted outside of the capital. Pramod Boro; the chief executive member of bodoland territorial council; has expressed immense joy for this significant feat. Special buses have been arranged for transportation of the MLAs. Students can also watch the proceedings of the assembly in the gallery arranged for them. The very fact that the opening proceedings of the Budget assembly is being conducted in BTC; verifies that peace has been restored in this area. Until 80s; it wasn’t considered safe to travel to BTC by an outsider. Even for a localite things weren’t smooth. So in that situation; many including minister Pijush Hazarika lauded the steps taken by the Governments to restore peace in one of the most disturbed area of Assam.
Budget Assembly begins in Kokrajhar
The session has started with a speech by Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya addressing the parliament. Later in the day; finance minister Ajanta Neog is supposed to address the assembly followed by MLA Lawrence Islary. The overall development of 6th schedule areas is supposed to be the main agenda for today. After the opening proceedings in Kokrajhar; the remaining events will take place in Dispur in Assam legislative Assembly.
