Need to spot human – elephant conflict areas to lessen it, says Environment Minister

New Delhi, August 12 : The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change observed World Elephant Day on Thursday where Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav pleaded for identifying the areas where human – elephant conflict endures and for working on a policy to drop such conflicts.

It was further spotlighted that the wildlife conflict is becoming the most critical challenge faced by the country as numerous such incidents hitting the national dailies perennially. The ministry is trying to provide all possible aid to states for the establishment of rehabilitation centers and for the welfare of captive elephants.

World Wide Fund for Nature in it’s fresh data on elephants has transpired that approximately 440,000 elephants are left on the planet and has also disclosed around 15,000 elephants are poached every year.
