Saswati Sarma , Guwahati , October 8 : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday declared a 3 km four-lane bridge over the mighty river Brahmaputra from Palashbari to Sualkuchi with an approximate cost of Rs 3,094 crore while launching the Right To Public Service Web Portal (RTPS) at an event held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakhetra. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present on the occasion.
The bridge will accelerate direct connectivity to the internationally-emminent silk town of Sualkuchi and the industrial zone of Amingaon with Guwahati and also the international airport.
The bridge will cut down the travel time for daily tourers from Nalbari and Barpeta while travelling to Guwahati. The minister also stated that the Assam Citizen-Centric Service Delivery Project (ACCSDP) will also help in combating river bank erosion towards the economic development of the state.
